Governor Otti Commissions 14 Roads in Aba

Fourteen roads have been opened to traffic in Aba after work was completed across Osisioma, Aba North and Aba South, Abia State governor said on Wednesday.

The roads include Aro Amano–Eke Aro Road, Adaelu Road, Geometric Road, Afule Road, Assemblies of God Church Road, Nwogu Ajagba Street, Nwala Street, Sacred Heart Street, Elizabeth Avenue, Nigerian Brewery Ring Road, Etche Road, Mosque Road, Crystal Park Road and Kingdom Hall Street.

Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Alex Otti said the aim was to improve links across the city, reduce traffic jams and support businesses in Aba.

Otti announced every road was built with proper drainage and street lighting to make sure they lasted.

He pointed to Geometric Road as an example of the change, saying it had been in a bad state recently but was now lined with industries.

Afule Road, he added, would work as a bypass to ease pressure on the busy Aba–Owerri route, while Adaelu Road showed how quickly the teams could deliver.

The governor also flagged off the first 4.9km phase of the Aba Ring Road under the Greater Aba Development Authority.

He said the bypass should cut congestion in the city centre and make it easier to reach neighbouring Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

The event came as the administration marked three years in office.

Aba is rising. These projects are proof that we are opening new pathways to prosperity for our people,” he said.
