The father of late singer Mohbad has declared that his son's remains will not be reburied until a court-supervised DNA test resolves the ongoing paternity dispute over the singer's son, Liam Aloba.
Joseph Aloba made the declaration after proceedings at the Magistrate Court in Ikorodu on Tuesday, where Chief Magistrate Salamah Matepo adjourned the matter to 11 August 2026 for the continuation of a hearing on an application filed by the Aloba family's legal team.
Mohbad, whose full name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on 12 September 2023 and was later exhumed for an autopsy.
Nearly three years on, the controversy surrounding a DNA test to establish Liam's paternity remains unresolved.
The family's counsel, Oladayo Ogungbe, told the court that the Aloba family was seeking a transparent DNA process through a court-approved laboratory.
Ogungbe alleged that two laboratories reportedly nominated by Mohbad's widow, Omowunmi Aloba, and the Lagos State Government's welfare officer had confirmed they did not carry out any test.

He also disclosed that the family had filed objections after discovering that Omowunmi had separately instituted another suit seeking a DNA test for Liam, which he described as an abuse of the judicial process.
The counsel added that the family had rejected an earlier proposed facility after discovering it was a cancer research centre rather than a tissue-based DNA testing laboratory.
Joseph Aloba was unequivocal after the hearing. "This DNA test is a must. The issue goes beyond paternity. We are trying to unravel the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's death.
"His death was not natural, so the DNA test has become the most important issue delaying his burial.
"We must conclude the DNA test before burying him again because his body remains vital evidence," he said.
