A university lecturer who allegedly withheld approval of a married female student's project for two years because she refused his sexual advances has been beaten and handed over to the police after her husband set a trap for him.
The accused is the Head of Department (HOD) of History and International Studies at Northwest University, formerly known as Yusuf Maitama University.
He also serves as a visiting lecturer at Mariam Abacha American Nigerian University.

According to reports, the lecturer repeatedly declined to approve the woman's project, allegedly using the academic bottleneck as leverage to pressure her into a sexual relationship.
The student confided in her husband, and the couple devised a plan.
Reports from those who have seen the lecturer's chat messages with the student indicate he fixed an appointment to meet her after Maghrib prayers.
When he arrived at the agreed location, he was met not by the student alone but by her husband and others, who confronted and beat him before handing him over to the police.
