A 68-year-old man and his 36-year-old son have been arrested after police found four single-barrel guns concealed inside a sack on their tricycle during a routine stop and search on the Igbogene-Tombia Expressway in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Operatives from the Anti-Vice Unit intercepted the tricycle on Sunday at around 10:30 am.
A search of the vehicle turned up the firearms hidden beneath sticks inside a sack.
The suspects, Tibi Friday of Futoro Gbene Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area and his son Oyabrade Tibi, were allegedly travelling to Abua in Rivers State at the time of their arrest.

Police disclosed the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yenagoa for further investigation to establish the source of the weapons and identify any other persons connected to the offence.
"On 6th July 2026, at about 1030 hours, operatives attached to the Anti-Vice Unit, while conducting a routine stop and search operation along the Igbogene–Tombia Expressway, Yenagoa, intercepted a tricycle conveying two suspects: Tibi Friday, 'm', 68 years, of Futoro Gbene Community, Ekeremor Local Government Area, and his son, Oyabrade Tibi, 'm', 36 years old.
"During the search, four (4) single-barrel guns were concealed inside a sack and covered with sticks in an attempt to escape police arrest," police said.
The Command urged the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to assist ongoing efforts to combat the proliferation of illegal firearms across the state.
