FIFA Confirms 2026 World Cup Squad Numbers with 11 Chelsea Players Involved

FIFA has confirmed the squad numbers for the 2026 World Cup, with 11 Chelsea players set to represent their countries when the tournament kicks off in nine days across Canada, Mexico and the United States (US).

The competition, which runs from 11 June to 19 July, will be the first World Cup hosted by three nations and the first expanded to 48 teams.

FIFA released the shirt numbers after national squads were finalised. 

Three Chelsea players will wear No.24 during the tournament: Spain’s Marc Cucurella, Argentina’s Enzo Fernández and England captain Reece James.

James also wears No.24 for Chelsea, and France defender Malo Gusto has been assigned No.2 as Les Bleus seek a third World Cup title. 

Several Chelsea players will make their World Cup debuts as Netherlands defender Jorrel Hato will wear No.25, Portugal forward Pedro Neto takes No.18, and Senegal defender Mamadou Sarr has been given No.2.

The full list of Chelsea players and their squad numbers is expected to be published by FIFA alongside the official tournament guide.
