ASUU Announces Nationwide Two-Week Warning Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced a full-scale two-week warning strike affecting all public universities in Nigeria, beginning Monday, October 13, 2025.

Professor Chris Piwuna, ASUU’s National President, disclosed the decision during a press briefing at the University of Abuja on Sunday.

He explained that the Union’s 14-day notice, issued on September 28, 2025, had expired without any meaningful engagement or response from the relevant authorities.

ASUU's leadership has directed all branches nationwide to commence the strike at midnight, following resolutions made at its recent National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

The industrial action is intended as a warning, though it is comprehensive in scope, signalling the union’s readiness to escalate if their concerns remain unaddressed, according to Piwuna.
