Brothel Owner, 29 Others Arraigned in Delta

A 63-year-old brothel proprietor is facing prosecution after Delta State police raided criminal hideouts across Asaba and arraigned 30 suspects before the magistrates' court.

Prince Chizoba Ojokwu, owner of the Prince Tarvan 50 brothel, was charged before the Asaba Magistrates' Court for allegedly permitting his premises to be used as a brothel and procuring women and girls for prostitution, offences punishable under Sections 224 and 223 of the Criminal Code Law of Delta State.

Ojokwu was among 202 persons arrested during a large-scale intelligence-led operation on Saturday, 4 July 2026, coordinated by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and driven by intelligence from the State Intelligence Department.

The raid targeted brothels, criminal hideouts and suspected drug dens across the Asaba metropolis and surrounding communities.

Following preliminary investigations, 172 of the 202 suspects were screened and released unconditionally.

Ojokwu was arraigned separately on the brothel-related charges, while the remaining 29 suspects were charged with conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and possession of illicit drugs.

Commissioner of Police CP Yemi Oyeniyi warned operators of criminal establishments to desist from activities threatening public peace.

Oyeniyi stressed that the command would continue intelligence-led operations to rid Delta State of criminal elements.
