Police Rescue Abducted Mother, Toddler from Kwara Forest Hideout

A woman and her two-year-old son have been rescued from kidnappers after police operatives stormed a forest hideout in Kwara State on Saturday.

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department's Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), working alongside local security support groups, conducted a tactical operation in a forest at Bode Sadu, where the victims were believed to be held captive.

The kidnappers opened fire on sighting the operatives but were forced to flee deeper into the forest after a swift tactical response.

A search of the area led to the rescue of Adijat Kuburat, 43, and her son, Abdul Malik Hamzat, aged two.

Police disclosed both victims were taken to a medical facility for treatment.

"The rescued victims have since been taken to a medical facility, where they are receiving appropriate treatment and care," police said.

Efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network behind the abduction are ongoing.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu commended the operatives involved and reaffirmed the force's commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crime through intelligence-led and collaborative operations.
