Moniepoint Commits N3bn to Tech Hubs at Three Nigerian Universities

Financial services firm Moniepoint Group has pledged N3bn to set up innovation hubs at three of Nigeria’s leading federal universities, in one of the largest private-sector investments in the country’s higher education in recent years.

Moniepoint revealed on Tuesday that the hubs will be built at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, over the next three years.

Moniepoint said the locations were chosen to spread opportunity across Nigeria’s regions rather than concentrating it in one city.

Each centre will offer practical training in software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, design, robotics, product development and entrepreneurship.

The programme will be open to students from all faculties and will run through structured cohorts, mentorship and real-world projects aimed at moving participants from study to employment.

The initiative was announced at Obafemi Awolowo University in the presence of the vice-chancellors of all three universities, academics, industry figures, students and alumni.

Moniepoint said the scheme was intended to build the next generation of Nigerian tech talent.

Moniepoint operates as an all-in-one financial ecosystem for individuals and businesses across Africa.
