Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has sent a public birthday message to Rotimi Amaechi, a day after the former transport minister rejected the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary results over alleged rigging.
Atiku posted the goodwill message on Facebook on Wednesday, calling Amaechi “a brother and fellow patriot” and praising his years of service to Rivers State and Nigeria.
“Happy Birthday to my brother and fellow patriot, H.E. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. Your courage, conviction, and years of service to Rivers State and Nigeria continue to inspire many across the nation. I wish you good health, strength, and many more years of impactful service to our dear country,” Atiku wrote.
The message came less than 24 hours after Amaechi publicly rejected the outcome of Monday’s ADC presidential primary, describing the results as “concocted.”

In a statement on X on Tuesday, Amaechi alleged widespread voter disenfranchisement, claiming about 80 per cent of party members were prevented from voting.
He said he would not accept results from a process that failed to meet the standards of fairness, transparency and credibility the party had promised.
Early figures from the nationwide direct primary put Atiku ahead, followed by Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Atiku reportedly won in Gombe, Abia, Ebonyi, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said there was no evidence yet to support claims of rigging in favour of Atiku, adding that collation was still ongoing.
Abdullahi urged aggrieved aspirants to use internal party mechanisms rather than public allegations.
