Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, have rescued three nurses abducted by gunmen from a primary health centre in Akure, Ondo State.
The Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the development on Saturday, saying the health workers were freed at about 4:30 am following a coordinated overnight operation.
Adeleye also disclosed that Amotekun operatives rescued a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son who were kidnapped on Friday evening at Pelebe community along Oda Road, Akure.
According to him, the victims were taken between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm and rescued at around 1:00 am after what he described as a “heavy confrontation” with the abductors.

“The three health workers earlier abducted have also been rescued at about 4:30am and are currently receiving treatment at the Amotekun health facility,” the commander said.
The nurses were seized when armed men stormed a government-owned primary health centre in the Oke Ijebu area of Akure at about 2:00 am on Saturday.
Witnesses said the attackers arrived in a bus, forced their way into the facility and took away the victims, while other staff on duty managed to escape.
