Widow Battles Late Husband’s Side Chick Over Property in Abia

A human rights activist, Mr Ochiegbu Marvelous, has raised alarm over the alleged harassment of his widowed sister by her late husband’s side chick, who is reportedly laying claim to the deceased’s car and other belongings.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Ochiegbu recounted his sister’s ordeal, describing the situation as "heartbreaking" and "unjust."

He disclosed he had just returned from his village, where he learnt that the woman involved had reported his bereaved sister to the police in Aba, Abia State.

He lamented that barely five months after the burial, the widow, who is still mourning, is being subjected to further emotional distress.

"This One Broke Me. How heartless can some people be? My sister from the same Ochiegbu’s just lost her husband, a man who was buried on June 5th, 2025, and now his side chick is dragging property with her.

"The same man they buried not even up to 5 months ago! As if that pain isn’t enough, this same side chick went ahead to report my sister to the police in Aba.

"My sister is still mourning, still crying every night and someone who called herself a 'side chick' is adding more pain to her wounds. Is well.

"I just got back from the village now to hear everything from her directly, and honestly… my heart is heavy.

"Some people no longer fear God. Let the d3ad rest, and let the living find peace. Is well! Kudos to side chick

"Side chick is now dragging my sister’s late husband vehicle and others. Is okayyyyy!" he wrote.

Ochiegbu, who revealed his disappointment at the development, called on the public and relevant authorities to ensure that justice prevails.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the widow nor the alleged side chick had made any public statement on the matter, and police authorities in Aba were yet to comment on the reported complaint.
