Nigerian-born heavyweight contender Kingsley "The Black Lion" Ibeh has called out former unified world champion Anthony Joshua, urging him to accept a showdown that could take place on Nigerian soil.
Ibeh, who has built a strong reputation in the heavyweight division with 11 straight victories since his 2021 defeat to American prospect Jared Anderson, recently recorded a decisive third-round knockout win over former world title challenger Gerald Washington.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, the 30-year-old boxer said a fight against Joshua would be a "dream come true" and the perfect opportunity to make a major statement on the global stage.
"We need the right platform and the right opponent to make a statement with and there’d be no better one than AJ.
"That would be definitely a dream come true. That would be amazing," he said.
The US-based fighter, who proudly represents his Nigerian heritage, added that he is open to facing Joshua anywhere, from London’s O2 Arena to Lagos or Abuja.
"It doesn’t matter where it is, I’m ready. Anywhere. even in Nigeria.. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the UK. I would love to dance with him in the O2 Arena. I would definitely stop him," he said.
According to Ibeh, he is confident in his ability to defeat the two-time world champion, declaring that he would "definitely stop" Joshua.
"No questions about that. It’s going to come down to how soon or how quickly it goes," he said.
While Anthony Joshua has yet to respond, boxing enthusiasts say a bout between the two Nigerian-born fighters would not only draw global attention but could also indicate a historic moment for the sport in Africa.
