Operations have fully resumed at the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) after unions called off a 12-hour industrial action late on 1 June 2026.
The strike was suspended following negotiations between NUPRC management and two in-house unions.
The unions included the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
According to a statement by Eniola Akinkuotu, Head of Media and Corporate Communications, the industrial action affected only administrative work.

Akinkuotu said regulatory activities at oil and gas facilities continued without disruption.
The Commission urged the public to disregard reports claiming crude oil production was disrupted.
It also dismissed publications suggesting the disagreement was over foreign training.
NUPRC stressed it remains committed to improving the operating environment for staff and prioritising staff development in line with the Petroleum Industry Act.
