Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have rescued 92 people kidnapped by Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area (LGA).
The rescue took place on Saturday 23 May, according to a statement from Operation HADIN KAI’s media information officer, Lt Col Sani Uba.
Soldiers from the 135 Special Forces Battalion deployed at Dutse Kura intercepted the group and freed 92 victims, comprising 52 men, 33 women and seven children.
It was said that the victims were travelling in eight vehicles at the time of their rescue.

Lt Col Uba revealed the fleeing militants attempted to slow the advancing troops by planting three improvised explosive devices along the Bula Zarma and Mangari areas.
He added that the devices were safely detonated without causing casualties.
Troops announced that the operation was part of ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to counter insurgent activity and secure communities across the North East.
