Tinubu Wins Bayelsa APC Presidential Primary with 277,192 Votes

President Bola Tinubu has secured 277,192 votes in the All Progressives Congress (APC) direct presidential primary held across Bayelsa State.

The result was declared on Saturday by Governor Douye Diri, who served as the state’s Coordinator and Collation Officer for the exercise.

Diri made the announcement at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa.

According to the breakdown presented by local government returning officers, Tinubu polled 39,454 votes in Brass, 45,949 in Ekeremor, 22,593 in Kolokuma/Opokuma, and 32,487 in Nembe.

He also received 24,896 votes in Ogbia, 46,283 in Sagbama, 34,692 in Southern Ijaw, and 30,834 in Yenagoa.

His only challenger, Stanley Osifo, received five votes, all from Yenagoa local government area.

Diri stressed the peaceful conduct of the primaries across the state was a shift from the party’s previous "toxic" exercises.

He explained that the process, which covered presidential, National Assembly and House of Assembly primaries, was calm and in some areas had a festive atmosphere.

"You have conducted yourselves so well. The exercise has been peaceful, calm, and in some areas more of a festive mood," he said.

The governor urged party members to remain united ahead of the 2027 general election, insisting that no individual could win without collective support.

He said APC’s unity and incumbency at both state and federal levels placed the party in a strong position in Bayelsa.

"If all of these people here will go back to our wards, can’t we deliver? Can anybody beat us in Bayelsa State? It is a very big capital No," Diri said.

Speaking earlier in his Sampou/Kalama Ward 6 in Kolokuma/Opokuma, Diri said APC remained the only party offering hope to Nigerians through Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The governor described the president as one of the best-qualified leaders to champion restructuring, citing his role in the pro-democracy struggle and the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) during military rule.

He acknowledged that the administration’s reforms were painful but said they were necessary to reposition the country for long-term prosperity.

The collation was observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Bayelsa, Isah Ehimeakhe, alongside security officials.

Dignitaries present included Deputy Governor Dr Peter Akpe, Senator Konbowei Benson, House of Representatives members Oforji Oboku and Rodney Ambaiowei, State APC Chairman Warman Ogoriba, and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) Heineken Lokpobiri.
