Tinubu Urges Unity, Sacrifice in Eid-el-Kabir Message
President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity and compassion as the country marks Eid-el-Kabir, while pointing to what he described as signs of economic recovery under his administration.
In a message released on 26 May 2026, the President congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and abroad on the Festival of Sacrifice, saying the occasion reminds citizens of the virtues of faith, obedience and selflessness exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
Tinubu said Nigeria was “on a journey of reconstruction and renewal,” arguing that difficult reforms undertaken over the past three years were beginning to yield results.
He stated that the sacrifices made had produced a more stable economy and made the country “a preferred investment destination” for job creation and growth.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” he said.
The President also addressed security, acknowledging that despite the elimination of a wanted Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) leader, terrorists and bandits continued to attack some communities.

He assured affected Nigerians that they had not been forgotten and pledged that security agencies would defeat “all the forces of evil.”
Tinubu urged Muslims to use the Sallah period to pray for peace, for the country and for wisdom for those in leadership.
He called on citizens to reach out to the less privileged and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.
The administration, he said, remained committed to investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital to fulfil Nigeria’s potential.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and blessed Eid al-Kabir.
