President Bola Tinubu has praised the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries taking place across Nigeria, saying the exercise shows the party’s commitment to internal democracy and grassroots involvement.
Speaking to journalists during the voting process, Tinubu said he was satisfied with the peaceful and orderly manner in which the primaries had been held in most states.
He asserted that the process had largely followed democratic standards and party rules.
"This is a demonstration of internal democracy and it has been going very well according to plan.
"This is politics, grassroots politics, where every member of the party has a right to participate and be involved," he said.

The President commended state governors and party leaders for overseeing what he called a credible and transparent process.
He said the primaries had given members at all levels a chance to shape the party’s leadership and direction.
Responding to questions on the nationwide conduct, Tinubu said the exercise had met expectations and reflected the APC’s growing democratic maturity.
He pointed to ward and local government congresses, delegate accreditation and membership verification as areas where the process had worked well.
"At least, you will score democracy at a high level," he said.
The President added that the turnout and enthusiasm from party members would encourage the leadership to deepen democratic practices and strengthen unity ahead of future elections.
