'I Didn't Quit NDC Senatorial Race' - Aisha Yesufu

Activist and politician Aisha Yesufu has rejected media reports that she "quit" or "stepped down" from the NDC senatorial race, insisting she contested the primary to its conclusion.

Yesufu said a "flawed primary" was conducted and another candidate was declared the winner, stressing she did not withdraw from the contest.

"I did not quit. I did not step down. I fought for my senatorial ticket to the very end," she wrote.

Yesufu explained that she chose to accept the outcome "for the greater good of the party and the nation" rather than pursue a dispute that could divide the NDC when a larger contest approaches.

"The 2027 presidential election is the prize that matters in this electoral cycle. I am backing the better candidate in that race. That is where my energy belongs," she said.

She called on media organisations that used "quit" or "step down" in headlines to issue corrections, saying the framing was factually incorrect.

"For the record, and for posterity, let it be clear: I did not step down. I fought till the end," she said.
