The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have agreed to strengthen collaboration on youth development, skills acquisition and employment opportunities in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
The commitment was restated on Monday when the Bayelsa State Coordinator of the NYSC, Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Content Tower, the headquarters of the NCDMB.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the board, the General Manager, Corporate Communications, Obinna Ezeobi, said the engagement reflected the shared mandate of both institutions in building human capital and expanding opportunities for young Nigerians.
Ezeobi said discussions focused on practical areas of collaboration, including skills acquisition, career development and increased awareness for corps members on the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Joint Qualification System (NOGIC JQS) and the board’s Oil and Gas Field Readiness Training Programme.

Under the programme, the NCDMB plans to train 10,000 young graduates and technicians in 10 high-demand skills within the oil and gas industry, as part of efforts to improve employability and local capacity.
Ezeobi also announced the board’s readiness to support the NYSC in implementing sustainable capacity-building initiatives that would contribute to economic growth and long-term development of Nigeria’s energy sector.
Both organisations agreed that the renewed engagement builds on their longstanding relationship, with a shared goal of empowering Nigerian youths and advancing national development through skills-driven opportunities.
