Bayelsa Declares Friday Work-Free for Presidential Visit


The Bayelsa State Government has announced that Friday, 10 April 2026, will be a public holiday across the state. 

RoundReports understands that the decision is aimed at allowing workers and residents to fully participate in activities scheduled for the official one-day visit of President Bola Tinubu.  

According to the Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy, the state is preparing to host the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

Citizens have been urged to turn out in large numbers to give him a warm reception.  

The announcement, signed by Commissioner Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, stated that the work-free day is intended to foster unity and ensure maximum involvement in the programmes lined up for the presidential visit.

Koku-Obiyai said:

"Bayelsa Government declares Friday work-free.

"The Bayelsa State Government has declared Friday, April 10, 2026 a work-free day to enable workers and other residents of the State participate in the programmes lined up for the one-day official visit of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to Bayelsa State.

"All residents are enjoined to come out en masse and accord the President a rousing welcome.
