'2026 UTME Not Postponed' – JAMB Clarifies

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has refuted claims circulating online that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed.

In a statement released on Saturday, the examination body described the report as "malicious" and "deliberately misleading," urging candidates and the public to disregard it.

"Our attention has been drawn to a malicious press release alleging that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. We wish to state clearly that the notice is fake and did not emanate from the board

"Candidates and the general public are advised to disregard it. All arrangements for the 2026 UTME remain on course as scheduled," JAMB said.

The board reaffirmed that the UTME will take place between Thursday, 16 April and Saturday, 25 April 2026, as earlier announced.

This clarification follows the conduct of the UTME mock examination on Saturday, 28 March, which was marred by technical glitches in some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

Out of 224,597 registered candidates, 152,586 successfully sat for the mock across 989 centres nationwide.

JAMB announced that more than 20 centres have since been delisted for poor infrastructure and failure to meet operational standards.
