The Nigerian Presidency has dismissed as false a viral social media post attributed to United States (US,) President Donald Trump, which criticised Bola Tinubu over recent bombings in Maiduguri, Borno State.
RoundReports understands that the widely circulated message alleged that Nigeria was experiencing “massive, coordinated suicide bombings” while President Tinubu was on an official visit to the United Kingdom (UK), accusing him of neglecting national security.
Responding to the claims, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga described the post as fabricated and misleading, warning Nigerians against spreading or believing unverified information online.
“Enemies of Nigeria are always at work, always ready to fabricate anything,” Onanuga said, insisting that the statement did not originate from Trump.

The rebuttal comes in the wake of deadly attacks in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, where at least 23 people were reported killed and several others injured.
In addition, the fake post claimed that key infrastructure, including a hospital and a market, had been targeted, while urging the Nigerian leader to cut short his trip abroad.
However, the Presidency maintained that the claims were entirely false and urged citizens to depend on credible and verified sources of information.
It stressed that the government remains engaged in efforts to address security threats and protect lives across the country.
