Morocco Awarded AFCON 2025 Title after CAF Overturns Final Result

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially declared Morocco winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after overturning the outcome of the final against Senegal.

In a ruling issued by CAF’s Appeal Board, the original result of the final was annulled and replaced with a 3–0 victory in favour of the Moroccan side, citing a breach of tournament regulations by Senegal.

The decision follows chaotic scenes in Rabat during the final, where the Senegalese team, known as the Lions of Teranga, walked off the pitch in protest.

The incident prompted an official complaint from Morocco’s football federation, triggering a review process.

CAF said its Appeal Board acted under Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations, which govern misconduct and forfeiture of matches.

The panel upheld Morocco’s appeal, set aside an earlier decision by the Disciplinary Board, and ruled that Senegal’s actions constituted a violation of the competition rules.

In its statement, CAF confirmed that Senegal had forfeited the match, with the final score recorded as 3–0 to Morocco.

CAF's  ruling effectively hands the host nation the continental title.

The governing body added that all other claims and requests for relief were dismissed, bringing the matter to a close.
