Celine Dion Returns to Stage with Paris Concerts

Global pop icon, Celine Dion is set to reunite with fans in France this autumn for her first major concert appearances since revealing her battle with a rare neurological condition.

According to a report by United States (US) entertainment outlet Variety, the Canadian singer will headline a large-scale run at the Paris La Défense Arena, with two performances scheduled for September and another two in October.

The shows revive plans originally announced for 2020 but shelved as the COVID-19 pandemic halted live events worldwide.

Dion, who was born in Quebec and made her recording debut in 1981, has enjoyed a career spanning more than four decades.

Renowned for her powerhouse vocals, she has frequently been grouped among the world’s foremost divas alongside Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Her accolades include five Grammy Awards and two Academy Awards for Best Original Song, notably for “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic.

In 2022, the singer disclosed that she had been diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome (SPS), an ultra-rare disorder that affects the nervous system and can severely limit mobility and vocal control.

At the time, she spoke candidly about coming to terms with the illness, describing it as a process of acceptance rather than finding answers.

"My voice is the conductor of my life. The stage is so missed. I miss the audience. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl—even if it means crawling onto the stage," she had said.

Her gradual return to public performance gathered momentum in June 2024 when she appeared at the 2024 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, delivering a widely praised rendition of Hymne à l’Amour.

Around the same period, the documentary I Am: Celine Dion offered a deeply personal account of her health struggles and enduring commitment to music.
