Oyo State Police have rescued a five-year-old girl abducted from her home in Ibadan and arrested two suspects who had already collected part of their N10 million ransom demand before being caught.
Fikayo Gbemiga was taken from her family's residence in the Iyana Offa area of Ibadan on 3 July 2026.
Operatives of the Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad launched an intensive intelligence-led investigation, deploying technology and other investigative tools to trace the suspects over eight days.
The operation culminated in a raid on a hideout in the Mojoyin Molade area of Iwo Road, Ibadan, at around 10:30 pm on 11 July 2026.
According to police, the child was found unhurt and rescued five minutes later.
Both suspects were arrested before they could move the victim or evade the law, police added.

The suspects, Adegboye Seyi Sunday, 37, and Adegboye Elijah Adefemi, 25, allegedly broke into the complainant's residence, seized the child and subsequently demanded N10 million for her release.
Investigations revealed they had already received a partial ransom payment of N1 million at Gbongan, Osun State, on 8 July 2026, during negotiations with the family.
Police said both suspects are currently cooperating with investigators and efforts are ongoing to recover the ransom collected.
Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, disclosed that a manhunt has been launched to track down other members of the criminal network still at large.
Olugbenga commended his operatives and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supplying credible information to the police.
