Uganda’s Ghetto Kids Invited to Perform at 2026 FIFA World Cup

Ugandan dance group, the Ghetto Kids have been invited by Shakira to perform at the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.

The performance is scheduled for 19 July 2026 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Shakira announced the invitation in a video message on social media, saying she wanted the group’s energetic dance style for the global stage.

Founded in 2007 by Dauda Kavuma, the Ghetto Kids began in Kampala’s Katwe slums as a group for orphans and disadvantaged children.

The organisation provides housing, education and creative training alongside dance and music.

Ghetto Kids first gained international attention in 2014 after a video of their routine to Eddy Kenzo’s Sitya Loss went viral.

Since then, they have performed worldwide, combining traditional Ugandan dance with contemporary styles.

Their credits include a feature in French Montana’s 2017 video Unforgettable , an appearance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and a run to the final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2023, where they received a golden buzzer during auditions.
