Arsenal midfielder Max Dowman has become the youngest player to start a Premier League match, breaking the record in Arsenal’s game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Dowman started the match aged 16 years and 144 days, while the previous record was held by Jose Baxter.

Baxter was 16 years and 198 days old when he started for Everton in 2008.

The 16-year-old has now made five Premier League appearances for Arsenal.

He was part of the side that received a guard of honour at Selhurst Park as the Gunners celebrated their title win.
