Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has criticised the remand of cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as BLord, saying incarceration secured through legal expertise should not be celebrated as a win.
In comments directed at fellow activist and social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, Sowore described the development as the oppression of a fellow Nigerian rather than a triumph of justice.
His remarks followed a decision by the Federal High Court, which on Wednesday ordered BLord to be remanded at Kuje prison for 26 days.
The businessman was arraigned on allegations including impersonation of VeryDarkMan, forgery, false endorsement, breach of privacy and identity theft.
Writing on Facebook, Sowore condemned the handling of the case, arguing that legal outcomes should be determined by the merits of evidence, not by tactical advantage.

He accused VeryDarkMan and his lawyer, Marshal DF Abubakar, of enabling what he characterised as an oppressive use of the law.
“No one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the colour of law,” Sowore wrote.
He added that jailing BLord did not amount to advocacy or legal brilliance, warning that such outcomes risk strengthening a system that weaponises legal processes against citizens.
Sowore disclosed he had reached out to Abubakar to disengage from the matter and pledged to work towards having the case discontinued and BLord released, insisting that justice should never be reduced to punishment for its own sake.
“Justice must never be reduced to punishment for its own sake. I will work to ensure this case is discontinued and B-Lord is released without further delay,” he said.
