Security agencies in Delta State have stepped up their offensive against criminal groups, recording multiple arrests and seizures in intelligence-led raids across the state.
The operations, coordinated by the Delta State Police Command, were carried out in different locations as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal networks and improve public safety, police said.
According to the command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe, operatives of the Raiders Unit, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected criminal hideout in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, at about 1pm on April 4.
During the operation, officers arrested a 34-year-old suspect, Henry Obi, from Anambra State, who reportedly admitted membership of the Aiye confraternity.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of an English-made pistol loaded with six rounds of live ammunition.
Police also said suspected illicit drugs were discovered hidden inside a standing air conditioner in the living room, suggesting a deliberate attempt to evade detection.

According to police, items recovered included quantities of suspected illicit drugs, two locally fabricated battle axes and N144,000 in cash.
All suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations continue to determine the full extent of their involvement in criminal activities.
Reacting to the operations, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the officers for their professionalism, swift response and effective collaboration with local vigilante groups.
Oyeniyi stressed that proactive, intelligence-driven operations remain central to the command’s strategy to curb crime across the state and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information, assuring that the police remain committed to protecting lives and property.
