BLord: VeryDarkMan Dares Sowore

Popular Nigerian social media critic, VeryDarkMan has issued a warning to human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, vowing to pursue legal action if his image is used without consent.

The threat follows Sowore’s public criticism of the remand of cryptocurrency entrepreneur BLord, which he described as "not a victory" and emblematic of what he termed the weaponisation of the law.

In a video response that has circulated widely online, VeryDarkMan said any unauthorised use of his image would attract consequences, insisting the matter was about personal rights rather than activism.

He added that the same standard would apply to anyone, including Sowore.

"If dem born you well, use my picture without my consent… I will lock you up. Put am for billboard, I go send you go prison," VeryDarkMan said.

The row stems from a decision by the Federal High Court to remand BLord in Kuje prison for 26 days over allegations including impersonation, identity theft, forgery and breach of privacy, reportedly linked to VeryDarkMan.

Sowore had urged restraint in the matter and called on his lawyer, Marshal DF Abubakar, to withdraw from the case, arguing that justice should not be reduced to punitive measures.

"I have read about the court-ordered detention of an individual known as B-Lord, and I must say clearly that no one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the colour of law.

"I have reached out to my astute rights lawyer, Marshal D.F. Abubakar, urging him to disengage from the process. We must all agree that sending B-Lord to prison is not a victory for legal brilliance or advocacy. Rather, it risks emboldening a system of oppression that weaponises the law against citizens.

"Justice must never be reduced to punishment for its own sake. I will work to ensure this case is discontinued and B-Lord is released without further delay," Sowore had said.

VeryDarkMan’s latest comments, however, suggest he is prepared to press the issue to its legal limits.
