The rift between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels’ family and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has escalated following a series of new allegations made by her brother, Sweezy, and other family members.
In a fiery post on Instagram, Sweezy accused the Delta North senator of hypocrisy, claiming that Nwoko’s late son died in the United Kingdom (UK) from drug-related complications that were allegedly kept away from public knowledge.
"Accusing my siblings of drugs. What killed your son in the UK? Died of heart failure and seizure due to excessive intake of drugs! Yet nobody heard anything. You better take down all this nonsense because the media will hear more than they should," he wrote in an Instagram Story.
The post reignited tensions that had been building in recent days, following earlier claims by Sweezy and his mother, veteran actress Rita Daniels, that Nwoko had ordered his arrest in an attempt to intimidate their family.
Rita Daniels, in a separate video making rounds online, accused the senator of betrayal despite her daughter’s past financial and moral support for his political ambitions.
She alleged that Regina once contributed $50,000 to Nwoko’s senatorial campaign before their relationship deteriorated.
Adding to the controversy, Regina Daniels’ sister-in-law also came forward with fresh claims that a police officer, allegedly acting on Nwoko’s orders, attempted to arrest her husband, Sweezy.
According to her, the officer had disguised himself as a prospective house buyer before trying to detain Sweezy after a brief conversation.
The alleged arrest attempt drew the attention of bystanders, who reportedly intervened after the officer failed to give any reason for his actions.
She further claimed that the same officer made a similar attempt to arrest Regina’s elder sister, but was again prevented by members of the public.
The Daniels family insists that they are being unfairly targeted, while the senator, as of the time of this report, has not publicly addressed the latest allegations.
