In an official statement released by the production company's management, the studio stated unequivocally that reports of his death "are false" and confirmed he is "currently receiving medical treatment."
According to the statement, Joffy and members of the Joseph Prince Films production team were returning from a promotional ticket sales campaign for an upcoming film, during which they were documenting their activities, when they were confronted by a group of street touts demanding money.
The situation reportedly escalated, with production equipment seized and a cast member's phone taken.
Another crew member was said to have been assaulted before the incident turned violent.
During the altercation, Joffy sustained an injury, while other members of the team also suffered injuries and emotional trauma.

The statement reiterated that reports claiming Joffy had died "are entirely false and should be disregarded."
As a result of the incident, and with the immediate priority placed on the recovery and wellbeing of those affected.
The studio confirmed that the release of its upcoming film, The Last Bell, has been postponed until further notice.
Management thanked the public for the prayers, concern and encouragement shown to Joffy, the cast, crew and their families, while urging people to refrain from sharing unverified information.
The statement added that official updates would only be issued through the official platforms of Joseph Prince Films.
