Tinubu Returns to Abuja after Eid break, Commissions Navy Vessels

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja following the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos, where he held a series of political and national engagements before flying back to the capital.

The President’s plane touched down at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 5:17 pm on Tuesday.

He was received by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu, alongside other senior officials.

During his stay in Lagos, President Tinubu hosted the traditional Sallah homage.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio leading the Senate leadership, governors under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum chaired by Kwara’s AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and APC stakeholders from Oyo State, including governorship candidate Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, were among those who visited.

On Monday, the President attended the International Fleet Review at Eko Atlantic City Waterfront to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.

He commissioned three new naval vessels, NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila and NNS Gurara, and reviewed the fleet.

The same day he held talks with His Excellency Romuald Wadagni, President of the Republic of Benin.

The meeting, according to the State House, focused on strengthening the longstanding bond of friendship, regional cooperation and economic partnership between the two neighbouring countries.

Before the Eid break, Tinubu had also participated in APC primaries in Lagos, voting at his polling unit and later being endorsed nationwide by close to 11 million party members as the APC’s torchbearer for the 2027 presidential election.

The primaries covered candidates for state assembly, governor, House of Representatives, Senate and the presidency.
