Nollywood Actor Solomon Akiyesi Dies in Abuja


Veteran Nollywood actor and producer Solomon Akiyesi has died, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) said.

Akiyesi reportedly passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Abuja aged 66.

The Edo State-born actor who also served on the board of the AGN was said to have died in his sleep.

Confirming the development on Monday, the National President of the guild, Abubakar Yakubu, said the late actor’s remains had been deposited in a mortuary in Abuja, pending further information from his family.

"Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. He slept and did not wake up. His body is in the morgue in Abuja, where the sad incident happened," Yakubu said.

Akiyesi was a familiar face in Nigeria’s film industry, with a career spanning several years in Nollywood as both an actor and producer. 

He was best known for roles in Deadly Affair (1995), Desperate Ladies, Pretty Liars, Bridge of Contract, Heart of a Saint, and 2024’s Gen Z Wife.
