Troops Recover Arms, Arrest Two Suspects in Delta


Troops of Headquarters 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation Delta Safe have recorded an operational success with the recovery of arms and the arrest of two suspected criminals in Delta State.

The operation took place at the Ogidigben community in Warri South West Local Government Area (LGA), following reports of sporadic gunfire in the area.

According to a statement issued on Monday night by the Nigerian Army, troops acted on credible intelligence and responded swiftly, leading to the seizure of four AK-47 rifles.

Items recovered during the operation included six magazines, 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two knives, 10 machetes and four rain boots.

The suspects were arrested at the scene and are currently in custody, undergoing further investigation, the statement added.

Commending the troops for their professionalism and resilience, the Commander of the 63 Brigade, Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, urged them to sustain the operational tempo.

Shonibare reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action and warned individuals or groups involved in the possession of illegal arms or other criminal activities to desist.

The commander pledged security forces would continue to intensify efforts to track down and dismantle criminal networks threatening peace and stability in the area.
