Senator Ned Nwoko has denied accusations of domestic violence following the circulation of a viral video showing his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, in emotional distress.
Nwoko claims the tension in their marriage is rooted not in abuse, but in what he described as Regina’s "battle with drugs and alcohol."
The footage, which emerged online over the weekend, showed Regina tearfully lamenting her situation, saying, "In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house I am a queen. Not again, I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much."
Round Reports observed that the video triggered widespread alarm from fans and prompted her brother to speak out on social media, vowing to protect her from alleged domestic harm.
Responding in a statement via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Lawmaker rejected any claims of violence, insisting he has been trying to help his wife seek treatment.
"Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety," he wrote.
According to the senator, previous efforts to enrol her in rehabilitation had been met with resistance.
He said he had set clear conditions for her to undergo treatment either in Asokoro or abroad, including in Jordan, where she would be kept away from alleged sources of drugs.
Nwoko further alleged that Regina had recently become aggressive at home, claiming she assaulted domestic staff and damaged property during recent outbursts.
"She is the violent one here, slapping and hitting staff in the past 48 hours and destroying cars and windows for no just cause," he said.
He also accused two individuals of enabling her alleged addiction, naming them as her supposed suppliers and blaming them for escalating the situation at home.
The senator, who is married to multiple wives, maintained his innocence, saying, "I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence."
He concluded by appealing to Regina to seek professional help, stressing that rehabilitation remained the only path to recovery.
As of the time of this report, Regina Daniels has not issued any public response to the statement.
The incident continues to draw public attention, with fans calling for calm and urging both parties to prioritise their wellbeing.
