BREAKING: Court Sentences Three Men to Death for Terrorism

A High Court in Sokoto has sentenced three men, including a Nigerien national, to death by hanging after convicting them of terrorism and arms proliferation charges.

Justice Muhammad Nuraddeen Bello of High Court No 23 delivered the judgment in case SS/45c/2026 on Tuesday. 

The convicts were named as Yusuf Muhammad, alias Sallau, a Nigerian; Jabbi Alhaji Yalle; and Kabiru Muhammad.

On 13 June 2025, the Department of State Services (DSS) Counter Terrorism Unit arrested the trio over alleged cross-border criminal activities involving arms trafficking and terrorism. 

During the trial, the court found all three guilty as charged.

Justice Bello also ordered the forfeiture of all monetary exhibits recovered from the men to the Federal Government.

"The conviction is the latest in a series of successful prosecutions by the DSS in its sustained operations against terrorism and organised cross-border criminal networks across Nigeria," the judge said.
