Lagos State Police have seized a truckload of military camouflage uniforms and cartons of suspected illicit drugs in an intelligence-led operation in Surulere, with three men now in custody.
Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani told journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday that operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit made the arrests on Saturday night.
The suspects were named as Chinedu David, 29; Ezeagwu Chukwuma, 38; and Ifeanyi Ogbeanyi, 45.
According to Tijani, the team stopped an unregistered MAN diesel truck loaded with 47 sacks containing military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of substances believed to be illicit drugs.
Preliminary investigations, he said, suggest the consignment was being transported out of Lagos to the South-East.

"The operation further led to the recovery of one unregistered MAN diesel truck loaded with 47 sacks containing military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of drugs suspected to be illicit substances," Tijani said.
The police chief stressed that inquiries were ongoing to trace the source, ownership and intended recipients of the items, and to establish whether other people were involved.
While allaying fears that the haul posed an immediate danger to Lagos residents, Tijani stated the consignment was leaving the state.
"It does not pose any form of threat to Lagos State. They were moving out of the state, but you know, with the trend of events in the country where we have seen bandits wear military uniforms, who knows what they want to do with this? Nobody could tell," he said.
The seizure comes amid growing fear over non-military personnel wearing army fatigues, which authorities say can be used to impersonate security forces.
