The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has formally decorated thirty senior officers recently elevated to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP).
The ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Disu congratulated the newly promoted officers, describing their elevation as a call to step into greater responsibility within the force.
He acknowledged the personal cost often associated with police work, recalling the birthdays, family celebrations and other milestones many of the officers had missed while on duty.
He also extended recognition to their families, thanking them for their sacrifices and for standing by their loved ones throughout their careers.
Addressing the responsibilities that come with their new ranks, he urged the officers to lead with integrity and humanity, stressing that those who genuinely champion the welfare of the men and women under their command will earn their loyalty in return.

Disu further charged them to help build public trust in the force through their conduct, to mentor younger officers, and to lead in a manner that reflects the aspirations of the next generation.
He encouraged the newly decorated officers to wear their new ranks with humility as well as pride, and restated the force's commitment to their welfare going forward.
The newly decorated AIGs include: Obono Nnaghe Itam, Bassey Samuel Ewah, Osagie John Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Daniel Edobor, Isah Danladi Nda, Akaninyene Ifebem Ezima, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, Bello Rashid Afegbua, Hycenth Azuka Edozie, Haruna Alaba Yahaya, Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin.
Also decorated were the newly elevated CPs: Nelson Nwamanna, Bolanle Aremu Murtala, Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, Ajayi Oluyemi, Rita Oyintare Oki, Iya Umar Mohammed, Darma Nuhu Na'aliyu, Nurudeen A Sabo, Tijani Murtala, Yakubu Mohammed, Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Akingbade C Adeyinka, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, Samuel Erale Etaifo, Taiwo A Adedeji, Ibrahim Umar D Zungura, and Zainab Audu Pembi.
The event drew several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Dr Oyekachukwu Ibezim; the Deputy National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajia Zainab Ibrahim; the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, representing the Governor of Jigawa State; Engr Ken Ekwemigo, representing the Governor of Anambra State; His Royal Highness Clement Ikolo; the Controller-General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche; and Brigadier-General K C Uwa.
The Nigerian Police Force reiterated its commitment to the welfare, professional development and operational readiness of officers at every level, as part of its ongoing efforts to build a force that mirrors Nigerians' expectations of safety, integrity and accountable policing.
