Ten Arrested after 13-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped by Multiple Men

Indian police have arrested ten people following the alleged gang rape of a 13-year-old schoolgirl over four days in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, with investigators examining CCTV footage from four hotels as the search for further suspects continues.

The case came to public attention on Saturday, 27 June 2026, and has since triggered outrage in the northern Indian city.

It was said that the victim, a Class 8 student from a village near Sriganganagar, had travelled to Srivijaynagar on 18 June to visit a friend.

According to police, the girl arrived in Sriganganagar at around 10:30 pm and asked an e-rickshaw driver, identified as Rambabu, to take her home.

Police allege he instead drove her to Hotel Joy Inn, the beginning of what police describe as four days of repeated sexual abuse across multiple premises.

The girl was reportedly moved between hotels by an accomplice and subjected to exploitation facilitated by hotel owners and staff.

Police stressed they are also examining allegations that alcohol was administered to the minor during the period of abuse.

The victim was recovered by police from Hotel Joy Inn on 22 June, after her family filed a missing persons report.

Based on her subsequent statement, arrests began and the investigation has expanded significantly since.

Three hotels were initially identified but a fourth establishment, trading under the name "Dream" near Birbal Chowk, has since come to light, bringing the total number of premises under scrutiny to four.

DVR recording systems have been seized from all four hotels, and a team of digital forensics experts has been assembled under the supervision of District Superintendent of Police Harishankar Yadav to analyse the footage.

Police believe further names may emerge from that examination.

Among those arrested are hotel owner Mayank Sain, manager Hardeep Nath and an individual named Sachin, all currently on police remand.

E-rickshaw driver Ram Babu, Mukesh Nath and Lalband Singla have been remanded to judicial custody.

Two further arrests were made on Saturday including Deepak, from Kishanpura Dikhnada in Hanumangarh, and Tarun, a Sriganganagar resident.

Of the ten in custody, five are alleged to have directly participated in the abuse.

One hotel linked to the case has been sealed and rental records and operational documents from all four premises are being scrutinised, with legal action promised against any owner or staff member found to have been complicit.

SP Harishankar said mobile phones seized from the accused have already yielded significant investigative leads, with raids ongoing to trace additional suspects.

He added that the welfare, health and rehabilitation of the victim remains a central priority for the investigating team.

The case has provoked public anger across Sriganganagar that the District Congress Committee staged a protest outside the Ganganagar Traders Association building on Saturday.

During the protest, party workers denounced both the police administration and the hotel operators involved.

District Congress President and Srikaranpur MLA Rupinder Singh Kunnar attended the demonstration and demanded the strongest possible action against all those responsible.
