NCDMB, Cypher Crescent Launch Programme to Train 500 Undergraduates

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has partnered with Cypher Crescent Limited to launch a new initiative aimed at equipping 500 Nigerian undergraduates with digital research skills and technological competencies for the country's growing energy sector.

The Catch the Researchers Young (CRYP) Programme was formally launched at a virtual ceremony on 29 June 2026.

It is the start of a three-month intensive training course designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical technological application across Nigeria's universities.

Representing NCDMB Executive Secretary Engr Felix Omatsola Ogbe at the ceremony, Director of Corporate Services Dr Abdulmalik Halilu welcomed participants and framed the initiative as a direct expression of the Board's 10-Year Strategic Roadmap, particularly its pillars on Technical Capability Development and Human Capacity Development.

Ogbe urged the 500 participants to make the most of what he described as a rare and valuable opportunity.

Acting Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Silas Ajemijaye, delivered the keynote address, arguing that Nigeria's greatest resource is not oil or gas but the intelligence and creative potential of its young people.

Ajemijaye challenged participants to remain curious and collaborative, and to develop practical solutions to real challenges across the upstream, midstream and downstream segments of the petroleum industry.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive of Cypher Crescent Limited, Engr ThankGod Igbe, spoke with evident personal investment in the programme, recalling how industrial training opportunities shaped his own career.

Igbe believed that the partnership between NCDMB and Cypher Crescent would give participants the platform they need to turn their passion for research into meaningful careers in technology and energy.

"We are confident that the energy, creativity, and enthusiasm of our young people, combined with the opportunities created through this programme, will make it a resounding success," he said.

The training curriculum spans six modules including Research Methodology, Digital Transformation, Business Processes and Digitisation, Cloud Technology, Data Analytics, and Digital Research Tools, a combination designed to deliver both academic rigour and industry relevance.

The programme runs for three months and is delivered entirely online, with participants drawn from universities across Nigeria.
