Imo State Police have rescued an injured kidnap victim from a forest hideout during a security operation targeting criminal hideouts across parts of Owerri West Local Government Area (LGA).
The victim, identified as Chinonaobi Uchegbulam from Ubaha Orodo, was found during a sweep of the Nekede, Ihiagwa and Agbala forest corridor on Friday, led personally by the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Audu Bosso, working alongside local vigilante groups.
Uchegbulam was evacuated immediately to a medical facility following his rescue and is said to be receiving treatment and responding positively.
The operation was disclosed on Saturday by the command's spokesperson, Henry Okoye, in a statement issued in Owerri.

It was carried out on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, relayed through the Deputy Inspector-General in charge of the South-East, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie as part of a broader push to dismantle criminal camps and deny lawbreakers safe haven across Imo State.
Commissioner Bosso commended his operatives for their courage and professionalism and made clear the command has no intention of easing up.
"The command remains committed to ensuring that Imo State is unsafe for criminals through sustained intelligence-led operations," he said.
He also called on residents to play their part, urging them to report suspicious activities to their nearest police station or via the command's emergency line, stressing that credible information from the public remains one of the most powerful tools in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime.
