Mother Seeks Justice after Son’s Death in Police Custody

The mother of 28-year-old musician Oghenemine Ogidi is calling for accountability following her son’s death during a police operation in Effurun, Delta State.

Ogidi, also known by stage names Mene and OG Millan, died on April 26, 2026, after he was shot by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman.

He had been arrested in connection with a parcel that allegedly contained a firearm and ammunition.

A video of the incident circulated online, drawing public attention and prompting a response from authorities.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed that Usman was arrested and transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for disciplinary proceedings.

Police spokesperson Bright Edafe later stated on Channels Television that the officer would face murder charges.

In an interview with News Central on Friday, Ogidi’s mother said she wants a full investigation into all parties involved.

She called for accountability for the four officers present at the scene, as well as the driver who transported the parcel and the park chairman where the arrest occurred.

Not that it will bring my child back but I will know that Nigeria tried for me,” she said.

Ogidi's mother hoped that the legal process would be thorough and urged authorities to ensure all individuals connected to the case are investigated according to the law.

The case remains under investigation by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
