Desmond Elliot Declares Re-Election Bid for Lagos Assembly

Lawmaker Desmond Elliot declared his bid for re-election to Lagos State House of Assembly on Friday, collecting nomination forms under campaign theme "Experience Over Experiment."

Supporters gathered in Surulere as Elliot echoed commitment to continuity and legislative experience gained over the last decade, his campaign said.

The declaration drew a crowd of constituents who chanted "On Desmond Mandate We Stand," according to attendees.

Supporters also described the atmosphere as a "carnival of loyalty."

Addressing supporters, Elliot thanked his political mentor, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila.

"I have been mentored by a leader whose compassion knows no bounds. It is that same spirit of service and empathy that I strive to bring to the House of Assembly," he said.

Elliot’s camp said the fourth-term re-election bid comes amid political challenges, but pointed to turnout as evidence of constituent support.

The lawmaker cited his track record of local intervention programmes, stressing that Surulere requires legislative maturity.

His campaign said it will focus on advancing community projects, expanding the "Desmond Elliot Power Initiative," using his ranking member status to influence bills on creative economy, urban development, and creating pathways for youth through arts and politics.

Elliot currently represents Surulere Constituency 1.
