Troops Foil Suspected Kidnapping Attempt on Taraba Highway

Troops of the Nigerian Army under 6 Brigade/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, have foiled a suspected kidnapping and robbery attempt along the Wukari–Ikyaior road in Taraba State, rescuing two civilians.

The army said the incident occurred in Wukari Local Government Area (LGA) after soldiers deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari responded to a distress call that armed men had blocked the road and were attacking travellers.

In a statement, the brigade’s spokesman, Lt Umar Muhammad, said the troops moved swiftly to the scene, forcing the suspects to flee into nearby bushland on sighting the soldiers.

Muhammad added that the assailants abandoned their victims but escaped with their motorcycle.
