Daniel Stern, best known for his role as bumbling burglar Marv in the Home Alone films, has been issued a citation for allegedly attempting to hire an escort.
The 68-year-old actor was reportedly at a hotel in Camarillo, California, on 10 December when police cited him, TMZ reports. Stern was not booked and did not have to take a mugshot, receiving only a ticket.
Stern, who shot to fame in the early 1990s alongside Macaulay Culkin and Joe Pesci, has largely stepped away from Hollywood in recent years.
Following a medical emergency in October, he has embraced a quieter life, running a farm where he grows tangerines and works as a sculptor.
Ventura County Fire Department confirmed responding to Stern’s residence in Somis, California, but did not disclose the nature of the medical issue. He was treated and released in good health.
Despite his enduring association with the festive franchise, Stern has repeatedly spoken about the financial challenges of his early career.
In his memoir Home and Alone, he detailed negotiations for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York after the original 1990 hit.
Stern revealed he was initially offered $600,000, double his first film salary but far below the multi-million deals given to co-stars Pesci and Culkin.
He later secured $800,000 but ultimately acknowledged the pay gap, citing “lots of things I get out of the movies besides money.”
Now distanced from Hollywood, Stern has described a markedly different lifestyle, focusing on cattle ranching, fruit farming, and artistic pursuits, far from the bright lights of his early career.
