Bayelsa Police, JTF Delta Safe Pledge Stronger Security Cooperation

The Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Iyamah Daniel Edebor, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to closer collaboration with the Joint Task Force (JTF) South-South, Operation Delta Safe, as part of efforts to strengthen security across the state.

Edebor gave the assurance on Tuesday, 6 January 2026, when he received the Commander of JTF South-South, Rear Admiral OBF Oladipo, alongside component commanders from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, DSS, NSCDC, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Defence Intelligence Agency and the NDLEA, during a courtesy visit to the police headquarters in Yenagoa.

The visit was aimed at deepening inter-agency cooperation and improving operational synergy between the Bayelsa State Police Command and the multi-agency task force, particularly in addressing security concerns in the state’s riverine and coastal communities.

Rear Admiral Oladipo stressed the need for sustained cooperation, effective intelligence sharing and coordinated joint operations among security agencies, revealing that such collaboration was critical to tackling emerging security threats in the Niger Delta region.

In his response, the police commissioner welcomed the JTF commander and his team, describing inter-agency partnership as essential to effective policing.

He assured the delegation of the command’s full support in crime prevention, maintenance of public order and the protection of lives and property in Bayelsa State.

Edebor also pledged robust assistance through the deployment of the command’s technological assets to combat pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft and illegal oil refining activities.

He added that continuous engagement among security agencies would further strengthen the state’s security architecture and enhance public safety.
