The Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Iyamah Daniel Edebor, has received newly posted Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) deployed to the command from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, following their successful graduation.
The officers were formally presented to the commissioner on Monday, 6 January 2026, at the Bayelsa State Police Command headquarters in Yenagoa.
Addressing the new officers, CP Edebor congratulated them on completing their training and entering active police service.
He urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity, describing them as representatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) wherever they are assigned.
He stressed the importance of respect for human rights, adherence to the rule of law, accountability and fairness in the discharge of their duties, in line with the vision and mission of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The commissioner warned that the conduct of the officers, both on and off duty, must reflect positively on the Force and contribute to public confidence in policing.
CP Edebor further reminded them of their constitutional responsibilities, including crime prevention and detection, the maintenance of law and order, and the protection of lives and property across Bayelsa State.
He encouraged a people-centred approach to policing and called for close collaboration with local communities, other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to strengthen community policing.
Furthermore, he drew attention to the protection of women, children and other vulnerable groups, urging the officers to take proactive action against gender-based violence, child abuse, human trafficking and related offences, in accordance with existing laws.
