Tinubu Sends 65 Ambassadorial Nominees to Senate for Confirmation

President Bola Tinubu has sent a fresh list of 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, expanding the administration’s latest wave of diplomatic appointments.

The request was read during Thursday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

It includes 34 career ambassadors and high commissioners, alongside 31 non-career nominees.

Among the career diplomats listed are Sulu-Gambari Olatunde Ahmed from Kwara State and Segun Ige from Edo State.

The non-career category features several prominent political figures, including former senators Folasade Grace Bent (Adamawa), Solomon Ita Enang (Akwa Ibom), and Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo).

The Senate had, last week, screened three earlier nominees, Kayode Are (Ogun), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Ayodele Oke (Oyo).

With the new additions, the total number of ambassadorial candidates under review this session rises greatly.

The latest list has been referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which has been instructed to conduct its screening and report back within one week.

More details to come...
